I'm not sure why they're in metric. Is it something in the library part I can switch to Imperial?

The problem still is where the marker line connects to the marker. I can't get it to the left side of the marker so the marker line seems to double back on itself.

Detail Tool - marker and outline

<T>We're using the detail tool for wall sections that are linked to the building sections. So far there are 2 things we can't figure out: 1) how do you place the marker anywhere except for the upper right of the detail? (it's on my personal wish list to have these kinds of things able to be edited graphically) and 2) how do you stretch a detail outline? our walls have gotten taller since the preliminary wall sections and I'm afraid if I erase and redraw the detail outline (which is undoable) that I'll lose all of the information from the detail window that we did before.

Does anyone have any experience with this tool and how they use it?

Thanks</T>

1. Use a different geometry method. You must be using the point method. There are also rectangle and polygon methods.

2. Check your display options to make sure you are showing the actual detail area and not just the graphic outline.

The actual area can be modified like any polygon. You must have the detail tool selected though.

Thanks for the help. After changing the display option I was able to get one of my detail boundaries to change (they were all drawn with the rectangular geometry method). I'm not sure that I was on the detail tool, though since I was so excited to try it out I skipped that step. Now when I try it with the detail tool, it doesn't work.

Also in moving the detail marker, how do I get the line between the marker and the boundary to change shape? I can get it to move, but I can't change it so that the marker is on the right of the detail boundary.

I know this is so basic, what am I doing wrong?

OK, I figured out editing the polygon. There was a parameter that you have to change to editable polygon and then back to follow clipping polygon to get both the actual and graphic boundary to change.

On the problem with the marker and marker line, here are some screen shots that show the problem.

OK, I figured out editing the polygon. There was a parameter that you have to change to editable polygon and then back to follow clipping polygon to get both the actual and graphic boundary to change.

But if you change the boundary then right click on the detail in your Navigator and select 'Rebuild from Source View', the boundary doesn't update does it? I've never had this work the way I expected.

As for your marker position, you are in the right area. Looks like you may be in metirc - if that's the case, I would try some higher numbers. It is a crying shame that these aren't stretchable IMHO, but what you gonna do? I guess you can add it to the wishlist!

Good luck.

Cheers,
It varies with the marker type used. Some hae a label 'direction' angle - usually set to 180 degrees. The whole thing is a bit difficult at present - I hope this will be improved soon.
