inserting gps coordinates

Hello,
We have been used to take gps coordinates for specific plots and insert it in AutoCad though the polyline tool.
This had as a result the drawings on the site plan.
Does anybody know how this is achieved in ArchiCad?

Hi Erika,
Think of a simple shape, the shape of the land.
In order to do this in Autocad we walk along the land bordres taking its gps coordinates using a simple gps device.
We then go to the office open Autocad, click on the polyline tool and insert the gps numbers using the keyboard.
The polyline shape created responds to the shape of the land so we effectivelly have its site plan.

My question is on the possibility to insert the gps coordinates directly in ArchiCad. For the time being I do the job in AutoCad and import the file in ArchiCad.

click on polyline tool. Set layer etc.

Type in the coordinates.

Done.

If you have Architerra, and the z coordinate of each point, make a xyz text file, open in Architerra, watch the site being made in 3D.

And so on.

Whatever you do, do it in a happier 2007!

well, I need a bit more detailed help here please.

The info I get from the gps is in the form of:
002-11-777E
042-86-895N

The way I insert it in AutoCad is
211777,4286895 Enter
Then the next one and so on

I sellect the poliline tool and just start typing.

-What is the detailed way of inserting these in ArchiCad?
I very much appreciate your help.

As Djordje was saying, you can't do this in archicad. Architerra, which he suggested is made by Cigraph in Venice, Italy.

Their products are add-ons and you there is a free demo of each one down-loadable from their website. Fabrizio is active on this forum and extremely helpful and responsive.

Djorge said that this is possible and very simple.
(see his mail).
He just describes it as very simple and I would need some more detailed instructions as 'type in' does not explain where to type.

Set the units. Select the polyline.Make sure that the delta sign in fromn of the coordinates is off.

Type:

x211777y4286895EnterxNEXTPOINTyNEXTPOINTEnter ...

After all the years on the Talk, I expected that you know how to input coordinates in Archicad?

i assume that the worst enemy of perfection is our tendency to use what we know avoiding to learn new stuff even if we know that this is counterproductive. The AutoCad trick was the impulsive solution!! thanks
