<T>Most everyone else is probably WAY smatter than me and had this figured out ages ago - but. . . when zooming in and out with the mouse wheel, it always used to bug me that it never seemed to be zooming centered on my screen - it would always zoom off to one side or the other (never the side I needed though). I just figured out that the scroll wheel zooms towards where ever your mouse cursor is. If you want to zoom in a little to the right - have your cursor on the right side of the window you're working in. If you want to zoom in to the left, have the cursor on the left. This is probably old news, but I was excited to figure it out! Now I won't be wondering why the heck the zoom never seems to be centered on the screen.
Have you tried a tilt-scrolling mouse?
Multiplies the fun of zooming!

Thank you, Tom

I, for one, had not yet figured that out and do appreciate your being open about your IQ issues and bringing this to my attention. Doubtless it is one of those things considered intuitively self-evident by some but others of us are frequently too methodical for our own good.

You just saved me a great deal of frustration.
I am having trouble with wheel mouse zooming. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just scrolls up and down when i want to zoom in and out. Is there a setting or something that i keep accidently changing or is it my mouse setting?

I set up my mouse settings a while ago. I think I use USB Overdrive - I use a Microsoft Intellimouse w/my Mac. It took a little fiddling, but it works great & I haven't touched it forever.
Zooming is new to you guys hey?

Us 'Autocad' users have been doing it for yonks.

Glad you caught up, I wouldn't have even looked at archicad if you couldn't wheel zoom.
AC has whel-zoom since v.8. Not so new!

Talking about AutoCAD - it desperately needed wheel-zoom because its keyboard transparent zooms were horrible (and still are) . Till R2000 one had to use a third-party application like SoftEngine to be able to zoom normally. But at what a price - a life-long contract with Microsoft and no AutoCAD release for another platform.

Don't worry I'm of a firm belief the archicad is superior to Autocad... Just poking fun... Why else Would I have spent $6000 Aust. on it.
What I don't understand is that Archicad is not being taught in schools as much as Autocad. My lecturer meantion Archicad.... once....

It's is in some instances cheaper then autocad by a couple of Thossand as well. So why is Autocad still existing....
Why not tought at school? It's obvious - your teachers don't know how to use it! They are from the old school!

For example- my school:
7 AutoCAd teachers. 1 AC teacher
30-40 PCs with AutoCAD, 9 Macs with AC
Mac to PC ratio among computer owners in Bulgaria 1:500
