Rebuild selected from model

I am working in the S/E window. Have an element selected and want to rebuild only that element. The button for "rebuild selected from model" is grayed out. The S/E window setting is for manual rebuild. Have made modifications to a beam.

How do I get this to work? Don't want to rebuild the whole elevation, it takes two minutes to rebuild the whole thing.

Sounds a bit buggy Tom, but have you tried a 'Rebuild and Regenerate Autorebuild Model S/E'?. Do this by holding down the Alt key when accessing your Rebuild menu item.

You can hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R (or can you?! ), or create your own toolbar button. Still sounds buggy though.
