Set the magic wand to 36 arc segments. That means that any arc (barrel vault cross section) will be approximated with 36 straight segments.

Now do your barrel again.

For the Profiler, use the same arc as a starting point to draw a fill of the cross section of the barrel roof. Then extrude it along a drawn path, or click on the start and end point.

Both should work ... with the second, you have to SEO anything sticking through, and will not have the special roof plan display options.

<R>Got a slight problem with the barrel-vaulted roof tool. I'm trying to make a curved bit of glass, using the barrel-vaulted roof tool. But when I draw the roof in 3D, all I get is two pieces that isn't curved at all. Anyone who knows what I'm doing wrong?

The measurements of the piece is:

Length (x) : 750 mm
Width (y) : 600 mm
elevation (z): 125 mm
Hi there,
I had this problem too.
You need to go into magic wand settings, change the segments along arcs / circles box to 36 (even if you have checked deviation from curves less than option).
Drawing barrel vaulted roofs is easiest in the 3D window.
The first line that you draw is the straight line across the bottom of the width of the roof (it won't be part of the roof, but is the horizontal plane that the roof sits on). Then depending on the option selected in the pet palette, you can drag a semicircle (or other shape) upwards to create the dome. You then drag the dome out to the desired length.
It is much easier doing this in the 3D window, as you can see exactly what you are getting.

Have you adjusted (eg slit) any of the roof segements. Occationally this can send out a rogue node giving unpredicable results. Not sure how to fix it.

atab,

Show us your barrel vault if it is not to much bother. My advise is the same for any "automatic" thing. Try it once or twice, if you can get it to work great, if not forget it.

Just model the parts you need using the profiler or something. In the end it may be better and faster anyway.

I agree, I just deleted the rogue roof segment, can't tell the difference in the drawings, etc. Nice to know I am not the only one tweeking things to get it right.
