<T>In ArchiCAD 10 is ArchiCAD set up to make all project drawings from the Floor Plan?

Are all drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) expected to come from the Floor Plan? OR

Are other drawings made up "outside" of the original file and brought in as "external drawings"?</T>

i think i understand the question but not sure:

ac10 and earlier versions: you model your project; (using all tools available and using all views including 3d view to visualize what u r modeling or virtually building ! )
from this model, you extract whatever necessary info to create your type of construction documents in the 'layout' part of the software (section, elevation. finish schedules, rendering, errors, etc)

and import as a pdf or jpg's, etc all your prefab old details, pictures onto the 'layouts' as required.

Thanks. Wasn't sure about the basic ArchiCAD concept when the reference guide talked about bringing in external files while the layout book shows all the various section files, elevation files, etc. with each drawing which is started.

If you want to do a detail only - is it possible to do the detail with out all of the file attachments shown as if you are starting a new project/

u can do 3d or 2d details within your project (detail tool) or outside your current ac file: Also, u can of course import/xref/merge/ call reference files (external details) as u do in autocad, microstation
