<T>Can anyone help me with this one.! Which procedure is the right way to draw a roof like shown on the picture.
I used the rooftool with perpendicular roof ending, and I used the suctraction tool to trim the intersections of the roof together. But as you can see at the picture, the underneath wall was trimmed to much after using the trim to roof tool..!</T>

Try using ctrl+clik trick on the roof edge..

select the trimming roof plane and ctrl+clik on the roof's edge that should be trimmed or extended...

Best Regards,
The ctrl-click has to be on the edge. And, the edge has to be in a position such that it will only be extended, not cut back IMHE. For a valley like you are having a problem with, the easiest method is often to pull both edges back, leaving a gap. Then select one roof, ctrl-click the valley edge of the other. Repeat with the other roof.

I usually do all of this kind of work in 3D, rotating the roof around as I fix each problem to look for the next problem.

Same technique if you have shed dormers that are not cutting properly in section ... pull the dormer's top edge down, lift the main roof cut edge higher, then do the two steps of select/ctrl-click. This makes sure that the intersection is computed by AC itself.

Just one way of going about it anyway.

Karl

PS Aha! I finally looked at your most most recent image. ArchiCAD will not do all of the work for you ... you have to cut a 'V" in the main roof, and bring back the edges of your dormer so that the valley edges EXIST in order for AC to compute the proper intersection. Insert three extra points on the main roof edge, and drag the middle up towards the ridge to get the main "V". Etc.

Find the dormer exercise on ArchiGuide archives. Says all.

Thanks, I have managed to trim the 2 small roof surface, and I am still fighting with the hole in the big roof. I will try the archiguide and see if it brings me any closer.!!
