Any recomendations and or pitfalls to watch for?</T>

I just tried this using the heavy marquee. It's not a big project but I didn't see any problems. The first thing that came to mind is that you need to make sure that you "Show all layers" in the layer settings window. I learned a while ago that if my "SEO Operators" layer, which is normally hidden, isn't turned on it can create a mess. Fortunately we have the "Undo" command If you are nervous about doing this you could make a copy of the pln file and try it on that.
Afterthought-You may want to choose the project origin as your rotation centerpoint. I'm not sure but if you have anything linked there, it might cause issues. Hopefully someone will chime in and clarify.
Hi Doug,
That is exactly what I did. Seems to work out quite nicely. Have to adjust some text and notes but that is relatively easy.
Thanks!

You're welcome David,

I was just messing around with rotating text. I have to guess by your post that you had "Text Wrapping" on in the text settings. I can see how this can be a problem. I try to remember to always turn it off and now I have found another reason why. Try it both ways and you will see what I mean.
Looks like you've found the best way. Just gotta make sure all your layers are showing and unlocked. Especially for hotlinked modules and xrefs. And make sure the marquee is big enough to encompass every element on every story.

Sections and Elevations anchor themselves using the project origin, so if you have chosen not to rotate them too, you will have to relocate any embellishments in those viewpoints the same distance that the model has moved from it.

[This is one reason why I recommend centering the entire project around the project origin instead of just an arbitrary location up to the right of it.]

Depending on how many you have, it would probably be easier to rotate the S/E markers, and just rename them.

Worksheets (in the floor plan) behave the same way as S/Es, but details anchor themselves independently. You'll still have to relocate any notes, plus the markers themselves, after a rebuild from the source view of course.

Cheers,
Hi Link,

Do you suppose that we will ever be able to Mirror or Rotate the justification of text? This is why I turn of text wrapping, it negates the justification. That and it reduces the size of the bounding box. Probably on the wish list but if not it should be.

Well, we've asked but maybe GS doesn't see it as a priority?

It should also mirror the anchor point IMHO.

It works with labels, so the only workaround I have found is to create a label with a very short leader and tiny arrowhead (all in a white pen so it doesn't appear anyway), then mirroring works as desired.

The good news is that they can also be stored as favorites to remember the text content.

Cheers,

Hi All,

Very happy I found this thread as I was looking in to the most efficient way to do the same thing and found the all the advice useful.

I will just add also, if you are doing a renovation as I am, to create a renovation filter that shows everything, as in existing, demo and new construction.

Aside from that, all the advice was helpful for me.

Thanks everyone.

FYI: Archicad contains such a Renovation Filter by default. It is the "00 Show All Elements" Reno Filter. It will show all elements, regardless of Reno Status in a not-overridden state.

There is one exception: It will not show any element for which the "Show On Renovation Filter" field is set to a specific Renovation Filter. Those elements will be hidden in all Renovation Filters except the one they are specifically assigned to using the "Show On Renovation Filter" field.
