How do you go about re-using the cornices you have created? Save as Modules or Build a typical drawing file that is modified for each job?
Roof Cornice

<T>We do a lot of high end residential that requires ornate trim details at the gable ends, rake returns, etc. What's the best way to make those quickly and accurately?

I've experimented; please correct any assumptions following:

Profiler only works in XY axis.

Moldings can be made to rotate in 3d, but they show up incorrectly in plan view while they show up correctly in elevation and 3D view. (I did this by adding a "roty r" command in the 3d script, and a new paramter "R" with the type set to angle). In plan view they are moved away from their positions in elevation; it must have something to do with the hypotenuse of the angle or something. And I sure don't know how to program it.

I purchased the Fast Cornice HHD found on objectsonline, but it's too simple, and I can't get trim where I need.

I was looking at other eave creators on objectonline, "eaves" and "eave designer". Is anyone else using them for this kind of detail?

Thanks in advance for the input.</T>

I think ArchiForma does all that - and more. Ask Fabrizio or check out www.cigraph.com

Cheers,
i use archiforma for rakes. its the only thing that will tilt them to your pitch. i use the crowns/trims in the archicad 8.0 library for fascia and returns. its a good collection of trims and works very well. Then i use the wall tool for all rectanglar, horizontal facia area trims. i use the slab tool for all soffitts. the wall tool works well for water tables, slab tool for corners boards. set wall tool to polygon mode and if you have your route laid out its very quick and clean.
You will build a library of corniches in time; if you are using ArchiForma, all the objects are graphically editable after creating.

My favourite classic is a Beetle, but, since VW bought RR ... oh, wait, it was BMW, VW bought Bentley <E>😉</E>

I guess the consensus is to buy ARchiforma and be done with it. How long did it take for you to be productive with it. I'm still on the ArchiCad & Architerra learning curve.

Thanks for the input.
