Hi,

Are there any add-ons (or features within ArchiCAD) that would allow calculation of U values (thermal resistance of walls / floors / roofs etc)?

I don't know if there is anything ready made, but the potential exists in the calculate functions. You will have to make sure your walls, etc. have the necessary properties defined.

PS: I believe thermal resistance is "R" value. "U" value is the transmittance.

Right, I havent used the calculate functions so... is this easy and where should I look to learn how to use it??

And yes I was looking for transmittance, cheers for the corrction!

You might want to check out the freebies at Cymap. The QuickSlab tool will do what you want. navigate to: http://www.cymap.com/products/free.htm

We tried to see if Graphisoft could write this applivcation into the Composites Dialog box, but never heard anything back.

Cheers guys, the quickslab application seems to be PC only and the greenbuilding studio plugin is USA only. Silver lining is that GBS plugin is coming to the UK this year and might be an answer to guestimating energy consumption and thermal efficiency! Brilliant.
