That did it - I turned on "scale neutral symbol" and then selected what I wanted to see (treads &amp;amp; arrow) If I select details as well, the text comes back, but still garbled. Not sure why that is but I don't want it in this case so it's Ok for now.&lt;BR /&gt;

      <title>stairmaker stair with garbled text</title>

      <description>&lt;DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"&gt;&lt;T&gt;I created this attached stair with stairmaker and it's displaying garbled text - I think it's supposed to be the number of risers, but what I really want is to just turn it off. I can't find any setting to do so when creating it or in object settings.&lt;BR /&gt;

Any help appreciated!&lt;BR /&gt;

      <description>Not sure, but the garbled text looks like a font issue to me. I think I would re-install Archicad to repair it and its connection with the system. If that doesn't work I think you have a Windows problem.</description>

It does look like a font problem - I looked for a setting somewhere to set the font but didn't find one. And I'm not having any other font trouble. I'll dig around more and see what happens - hate to have to re-install if I can avoid it.&lt;BR /&gt;
