<T>Each time I open a section/elevation view the window has been minimized. This means that Each time I open a section or elevation view I must resize the view's window and them expand my zoom to fit.

These steps seem unnecessary. Is there a way to have ArchiCAD remember the size of an elevation's window and zoom.

Thanks,
I don't know about the size of the window, but this may help with the zoom.

MENUS: Options> Work Environment (below preferences)> User Preference Schemes> Imaging and Calculation> Section Window Rebuild Control: check "Keep zoomed detail on Rebuild from Model"

When I create a new section/elev. the window is minimized. When I open an existing section/elevation ... the window is the size it was, when last opened (saved).

I think if I were you I'd just skip work tomorrow and jump over to Oahu to watch the O'Neill World Cup.

Stress,
Thanks for the idea. I don't think that is fixing my problem. Each time I reopen an existing section or elevation the window is very small. To work on the section/elevation I have to maximize the window and zoom to extents the view. These are two steps that I'd rather skip. I'm hoping that someone has a workaround or that the GraphiSoft programmers will fix.

I've lived on Oahu twice in my life and never saw a big tournament yet. Now I'm living in Kuau down the street from Hookipa. I've spent a few winter afternoons being amazed watching the best in the world gracefully making it look easy.

I do like the idea of taking the day off tommorrow.

Thanks,
That someone is you.

Once that you have the S/E as you want it, save the view. Then, rather than just right clicking on the section line, double click the view in the Navigator.
Hi guys,

Actually, John has found a known bug (I know because I reported it during beta testing!). This bug only affects the Windows version.

If you open a section, and click the Maximize button in the section window, so that the window fills the available screen space between docked palettes ('true' maximize ... not stretching the window) ... and then close the section window, the next time you open that section, the window is quite small.

At worse, when reopened, the section should be the last 'restored' size that it had. (Windows has minimized, restored and maximized states for windows.)

Now that I have a Mac, I can check both platforms... and confirm that this is NOT a problem there. Only on Windows.

Hopefully this thread will remind the developers to look at this bug... <E>😞</E>

Karl

PS The workaround is to manually stretch each section window to look the same as if you had maximized it, rather than to click the maximize button. Unfortunately, if you switch between different resolution machines, and machines with 1 or 2 monitors as I do, this means that your window sizes will only make sense on one configuration, requiring more dragging and stretching on a different configuration.

Thanks Karl, Thanks Djordje,
Karl's stretch workaround works while the project is open. The window opens at the size that it was last stretched to as long as I've stretched the window and not shut down ArchiCAD. Once I restart ArchiCAD I have to stretch the window and zoom to extents again.
It does not seem to matter whether I open the section from the View Editor or by right clicking on the section line.
As this didn't seem to be a problem in version 8 I would say that this is a new bug/feature in v9.
Thanks,

Never noticed this as I made it a rule long time ago NOT to maximize the windows. Except the floor plans now in 9 ...

We're all suffering from this bug, & we're working on 8.1 R2 so it is not just a release 9 thing. Very annoying, hopefully there will be a fix soon ???
Anyone ???

Wishfully (well it is Xmas soon...)
I've been in touch with tech support, and a request has been entered to re-visit this bug. Yes, I didn't realize it has been there all along - tech support pointed that out.

I noted that until 9.0, the bug probably was not as noticeable (IMHO). Prior to 9, with floating info box, tool box, etc., I almost never maximized a window, since then various information and controls would be hidden under these other floating dialogs and palettes. With 9.0 and docked palettes, however, maximizing windows (on Windows) works beautifully... except for this problem.
We use it in the method discussed before.
All windows stretched out to fit rather than maximized. Usually, a close & re-boot of AC leaves the floor plan window in the preferred position (but not always!) But section/elevation windows, 3D window, etc are either minimized or skewed half off the screen...
