You could also draw a line from center to top of circle and use multiply, then select rotate and distribute - 1 and set number of copies to 4.

<T>Hi

Trying to draw a five point star.

1. draw a circle

2. Set snaps to 5 divisions

3. draw a line from one snap of a star to another snap

4. all the snaps change!!!!!!!

doesn't matter what the settings are.

Anyone? Am I being stupid or is there a problem in AC11 with snap points?

TIA

Very annoying - I just tried it out.

It works if you go directly onto the point without first 'hovering' in the vicinity - go from space onto the snap-point - not just anywhere on the edge of the circle nearby.

A workaround could be to draw a line temporarily at a point where you want a node to be (my example at 12 o'clock) then set your snap to 'Between Intersection Points'.

You will find the snap points now relate to where the temporary line crosses, instead of where your cursor happened to be.

Hope that helps!

A couple of things:

1. Try turning off "autohide snap points" Options>Work Environment>More options.

2. If you hover over the circle near the 12 o'clock point, the snaps will always appear with one at 12 o'clock.

Looks like ArchiCAD is snapping to the nearest quadrant, depending where you hover: 0, 90, 180, 270.

Cheers,
Try placing hot-spots on where to point your cursor when joining the dots to form the star. I think that might help.
Set you Magic Wand Settings to 5 and draw a pentagon by space-clicking on the circle.
Then construct the star by snapping to the points of the pentagon.
Then delete the pentagon.

It has always existed, so it must be a feature. May be not the best one.
As Link said, this is a question of quadrants.

First, put the Mercedes cursor in the correct quadrant, according to your choice.
Hurry up to draw your lines, before snap points disapear.

If they do, while drawing, put back the cursor in the ORIGINAL quadrant, otherwise snap points will change.
A bit confusing. Even more confusing if you rotate the circle. In this situation, i think the "feature" is buggy.

A simple improvement could be to allow just one position for the first snap point, for eg 0°.
Then, all snap points should rotate accordingly to circle rotation. No more infernal jumps.

For the step one, your active tool should be the line or the polyline. This is the fastest method.
