I don't understand why Graphisoft don´t already add in all objects the parameters ROTX and ROTY.
I know it's very easy to add this in the 3dscript, but rotate is something so important that it should be a standard parameter for all AC's objects.

Anyway, this would specially help newbies like the above question.

Can i rotate 3d object in Ac9 in 3 dimension like Autocad( command: 3d rotate)? and can we cut a wall in forms? </R>

When do you need a chair or a toilet or a kitchen cabinet rotated in 3D, and what is it going to look like in plan?

There was one - actually a whole bathroom tilted over - on the Bo 2001 exposition in Malmö, Sweden. Very evocative. Water was gushing out from every opening, tub, toilet, sink, all the time, constantly flooding the room, only stopped by a ditch in front from flooding the whole exposition. One of the best art installations I've seen!

My wish in my first post is the ability to rotate anything in 3D (doesn't matter what) as a standard feature of ArchiCAD without programming.

Rotate in 3D is so basic and obvious that buying an add-on to do it is ridiculous for a U$ 4.200,00 CAD (Objective seems very good anyway). Fortunately AC 10 seems to go to this direction.

Though in some situations ArchiOpenMind add-on could be necessary.

Well, I do agree, I have complained about this for several years, as I've come from Microstation where this is basic.

But after some years, i've understood that it's not that easy. The basic difference between Archicad's BIM/VB solution and Autocad's and Microstation's is that the two latter basically are graphics programs with "building intelligence" additions, while Archicad is a building object database with a graphical user interface. Basically this means that it depends on how the objects are programmed how easily they rotate in 3D.

I guess Objective solves this by enveloping the original objects with its own orientation code, which gives them the ability to rotate in 3D. My guess is also that this solution doesn't work for all kinds of objects, and that Graphisoft would have to invent a more general approach to fix it. I think they've finally understood the importance of this, though.

Flutey,

You're absolutely right. There are a lot of objects that would be very handy rotated in 3D. Why not make it available for everything. You don't have to rotate your bath if you don't want the water to fall out. Just wondering what implications it would have on plan display, that's all. Please excuse my lack of lateral thinking. I never was very artistic, probably why I'm a technician, not an Architect.
