thanks s2art the workaround is quite painful this seems like a perfect use for a roof accessory.
does anyone know how the edges of the roof polygon are defined?

Gidday Oz

In (my) Object Library 9/ Basic Library/Special Constructions/Accessory Elements there is a Ridge Tile object, which might be what LiHigh is thinking of, but that won't help in the world of corrugated iron down here in the antipodes. Have you tried just using another roof, say 5mm higher than the main roof? Could be a lot of messing around, esp. if you have to alter it later on, but all depends on what effect you are after and the price you are willing to pay to get it.

Cheers

Hello
For metal ridge cappings & flashings, I've created a range of library parts (using the slab tool), which I then extrude as I require.
I've had to create different ones for different roof pitches. This works for our office, although with more gdl knowledge, one could create some really parametric ones.

What is it you want to create - a clay tile roof or a sheet steel one?
If it is a tile one I suggest a second roof 4 cm thick and 4cm larger than the first one. And the roof ridge accessoru works very nice with it.
