<T>Simply put, I would like to know if there is a way to find the length of a 2D line/polyline? It is a contour line on a survey from a consultant, so it isn't easy to find out how long it is, as far as I can tell. Any help?
Thanks,
You can use the element info pallette (think that is what it i called)

Thanks, John, that helped!
Under the Window Pull-down (I'm still using 8.1), then under Floating Palettes there was the Show Element Information. Any idea how to get it to show the total length of the selected line? It's made up of 100 segments or so.
Anyway, thanks for the insight, I think this palette will come in handy, now that I know it's there!
I think you might be out of luck getting a total of multiple lines. You could export as tab limited and total in a spreadsheet

Yeah, I'd noticed that was an option.
All I have to do now, is figure out how to get Excel to recognize the feet and inches format that AC exports. I know it's possible, just too busy to spend time on it.

Thanks again, John, your help is greatly appreciated.
you can temporarily swith to metric, in ArchiCAD preferences, then export, do the sum, and translate the result in feet & inches...

I don't have ArchiCAD handy, in this moment, but I think you can magic-wand your selected lines with the PolyLine tool active in the ToolBox, then check the polyline length in the Element Information palette.

If the E.I. palette does not report the total length of a PolyLine, try with a polygon (fill, or slab) and read the perimeter. In this case -if your contour was not closed- you have to subtract the the closing segment.
