controlling window section line thinknesses

Hello,

When I place a window into a wall, all of the lines (in the window graphic) are shown as the same thinkness... irrespective of whether the element has been cut or not. Graphically, this looks unclear.

Is there a way that I cam make sure the cut elements are a different line thinkness to the others?

Do you mean cutting the window in section? Does the section pen setting meet your needs?

Do you mean the plan symbol? The GS windows have separate pens for the frame, sill, and glass. (The sill takes the 'Symbol Pen') To further differentiate pens requires getting into the GDL.

Let me explain my useage better.

I am creating a library of one off recycled windows that have been collected for a "totally recycled" building project.

The windows will not be placed in walls but will rather be used as a "window frame patchwork" wall (a mosaic of recycled windows).

So I need to create a library of each recycled window I have so that I can jusr drop the window into the design.

I cant use classic window objects because they can only be placed in a wall. So I have created my own GDL obect that is a frame with a sheet of glass in it.

I have several problems.

1) the section makes the frame and glass "fuse" into what looks like 1 object
2) I want to have one thickness for the cut timber frame and an other thickness for the cut glass ... is there a way to allocate one line thickness per cut object in GDL?

It is possible to do everything you want in GDL.

I haven't the time to go into detail right now, but briefly: you will need to use the SECT_FILL statement to set the pens and fills of the different components. (It's on page 95 of the GDL Reference Manual PDF file.)

Be sure to turn on "Use Symbol Section Attributes".

That did the trick! ...... SECT_FILL command gave me all I wanted.
