<T>Dear all,

Is there any way to increase the Wall/Column or any other construction elements ID while copying? Because If you copy a wall in AC it's ID is remaining same and the interactive schedule is showing only as a single wall even though the quantity is shown correctly. But I would like to show copied wall also in the interactive schedule.

thanks in advance

cheers,
Srinivas.</T>

No. Anything you copy is an exact duplicate of the original. If your preferences are set to do so, the wall will remain selected after you copy it so it is easy to edit the ID value.

Such automated incrementation could be dangerous, since if you copy wall #4 it would become wall #5. What if you already have a wall #5?

Or if you are using the ID as a wall type.

I believe you have an option in the interactive schedule to show all elements, even with duplicate ID's. This might not be what you are asking for, but it might get you what you need.

what I would like is a tool that would allow me to select a bunch of objects with different ID's and increase them all by an amount, sort of like the coordinates pallete. How many times have you had to add a room number after a plan has been labelled and you have to go back one at a time increasing the room numbers by 1? I just had to do this yesterday for about 50 rooms - it was really tempting to just make a room 110A and 110B, but the signage schedule would get screwed up then.
Have you used element ID manager? It may not be perfect, but it might make your job easier. Select elements in the order you want the ID's to be numbered and you can re-number all selected items in a single go.

Mike's exactly right, this is the best way to go. It can be made even easier by saving frequently used settings in the Element ID Manager dialog box. For Srinivas the dialog could be set as per the attached image.

The biggest downfall (IMHO) is that there is no 'by order created' selection criteria, which means that we can't globally increase the ID by the order in which they were created AFAIK, so they ID somewhat randomly.

Cheers,
Correct me if I am wrong, but:

Was there not a technique to renumber the IDs by the order of selection?

Yes mate - but that means you have to select them all!!
