<T>I'm working on a building that is too large to fit on 24 x 36 paper at 1/4" scale.

Is there an easy/automatic way to create a match line which will allow me to break a story over more than one page?

I have figured out a work-around using layers by just creating two sets of exterior walls, two sets of roof planes, etc., then creating an A and B Layer set which will turn the two halves on or off, but I can see that there will be a lot of work and some difficulty where the dividing line is not clean (such as at roof planes or slabs).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help,</T>

If you are using PlotMaker, the way to work is to create 2 views (works with 1 view also) of the plan (put hotspots in the corners and near the match line symbol where you need to crop). In PM import each view and crop the border to the hotspots so that it only shows what is needed.

or simply duplicate the view onto another layout and crop? it requires the 'match line' to be drafted by hand (probably in plotmaker).

it's also useful to save a set of stripped-down very small-scale (1:2000) views to use as keys much like you would find in the beginning of a street directory or something.

here's one i made earlier . . .
I would think you would want to keep the match line in Archicad and just crop the view to fit in Plotmaker. This way you have the advantage to be able to dimension to the match line if required.

I was rereading my post and I should have specified that the views should be created in AC and that the match line should be drawn (or selected from the library) there.
You can also save two views in ArchiCAD - one for part 1 and another for part 2; import them to separate layouts; make sure that the connection line is shown.

It would be nice to have the detail tool preserve the 2D elements, then the referencing would be automatic, but ... something has to be in the wish list too.

If you created the match line in ArchiCAD, you could use hotspots on or near it to crop your (polygonal) PlotMaker drawing to.
