Stephen wrote:
I have an Archicad Project file that I can't open. It seemes to be corrupted in some way, because when I try to open it Archicad 8.1 completely freezes. The colored wheel just keeps spinning. I can't even get it to quit with Force Quit (I've never had that happen with any application). Any other running applications will still run fine during this process, but I have to restart the computer to be able to use Archicad again.

try starting a new (or new & reset) file then merging the corrupted file. Works sometimes.

<T>I have an Archicad Project file that I can't open.
The file was working fine. I was working with it in Archicad 8.1 with no problems previous to this. I can also open other Archicad projects without any problem.

Any thoughts as to how I can open this file?

(using Archicad 8.1 on PowerMac G4/500, 384 mb RAM, with OSX 10.3.2 (Panther))

Thanks - Stephen</T>

Try the "forward merge" technique as described by Eric Batte (in Tips&Tricks forum).

Before that, delete the library cache and the preferences - this should help.

After causing a crash (well ... two ArchiCADs and a PlotMaker updating from two files, meaning FOUR ArchiCADs and a PlotMaker are really too much ... duh ) I recoverd all the affected files in this way.
