<T>In the Attribute Manager, I open the composite attribute file saved from another project. I select the composites I need, and Append them to the current Project.

When I open the composites window, the skin dimensions are correct, but all the fill patterns have changed to "Common Brick".

Can anyone explain this?</T>

We can't edit index numbers which are the critial components of all attributes. If you need a fill whose index differs from file to file then you must overwrite the fill and then decide whether you are overwriting or appending the composite.

Index Number Editing is a very contentious issue here.

One file has a DWG xref. Could this alter my fill index numbering?

I've checked the index numbering and fill assignments for all fills used in the project, and they all match; file to file. I used overwrite to transfer all fills from the source file to the host file. Next I exported composites and used 'overwrite' to transfer composites to the host file.

The problem still perists after this.

This might sound dumb, but I tend to have better luck placing the composite I want the copy/pasting it into the second file.

Usually everything except custom materials (bit map textures) come across this way.
