editable custom stairs

<R>i know i know i know.... the internal stair maker in archicad is nothing to be excited about.... i attempted to use is in my last project and i was extremely disappointed with its abilities... in fact i wanted to cry.... it was a lot of work with minimal results
so if i create a custom stair from scratch.... slabs, cylinders, ect... can i save this for future projects as an editable object (and no i have never scripted anything before)

i could save it as a .pln file and copy+paste or hotlink it into my models

the only thing is that i would need to be able to edit it (floor to floor heights, widths, landings, railings, ect) between each project... but all the same metal pan stair

don't want to make it a custom object, because everything fuses together...

i have also heard that there really isn't a product out there conducive to our needs... is this true.... maybe there is a rock somewhere that i haven't turned yet... anyone have a bright idea shed some light on me please</R>

For a very quick stair, all you need is a tread and a riser.

You can just multiply/distribute-1, with virtcal displacemet (equal to total rise) and your treads and risers are modeld perfectly.

Attached is apoor example but I think you can get my meaning from it.

Same for balusters. You just make one set and you can multiply/distribute-1 with virtical displacement and your done.

Now you can spend the time modeling you very fancy hand rails with perfectly modeled newls.

Modeling stairs is great fun. Especially with all of the CAD details and drawings you can get online these days.
Just download their drawings and turn them into 3d parts. It's fun.

i don't need fancy handrails

i just need a metal pan stair that i can cut a section from
i know that it won't be perfect (i will have to draft in the viewmap)

and i can use the internal stairmaker to block stairs out
its good for that

can anyone tell me who has the best stairmaker
i want it
i need it
i've got to have it

Archistair has been quite good for us - once we sorted out the licensing agreements with Cigraph (our problem - not theirs). The ability to create good, useable stairs of the type you are using is easy. I wouldnt call it fun, but certainly less frustrating.
