<T>After working on a plan for months without problems, all of a sudden my elevation and building section views are screwed up.

When I open the section or elevation, the view is missing a large portion of the line work (walls, roofs, notes, dims, etc)

I double check the plan to make sure nothing was deleted and everything is there, its just not showing up in the elevation or section view.

I've updated my graphics card. My patches are current and I've even tried to cut a new section/elevation to see if there was a problem with the specific original elev/ection and i get the same problem.

Any idea what I can do here? Thsi is setting me back weeks or months</T>

I'm confused when you refer to missing line work as walls and roofs. Are these model elements, line work created by ArchiCAD, or drafting by you?

I double check the plan to make sure nothing was deleted and everything is there, its just not showing up in the elevation or section view.

Do you mean that these walls and roofs are present in plan and not in section? Is the section a model or drawing view?

I mean the section, elevation and the 3D model has missing elements.

For exampls I can marquee around an exterio and interior wall and open it in 3d and only see part of the walls, roofs, etc. However if I select one of the walls that I couldn't see in the 3d view and then open the 3d window, i can see it fine.

I can clearly see the elements in 2d, but they randomly disappear in the 3d model or any section or elevation I create.

I have spent the last 3 hours tediously turning on each lyer one at a time with my desired section open. If I only turn on a few layers at a time, the section regeneraes fully in tact. If I choose too many layers, then the section reverts back to the problem I mentioned...ie missing walls, roofs, etc

its bewildering and very frustrating

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but if you draw a marguee in plan only those elements within the marquee will be displayed in the 3d window. If the marquee is a single story marquee then the 3d display will also be limited to the story on which the marquee was drawn.

Now, that doesn't explain why any elements would not appear in elevations but you must be sure that the layers that those elements are on are visible. If they are visible in 2d then they are also visible in 3d unless you are using a saved view to switch windows. In that case check the view settings to see what layers are saved as visible with the view.

Yeah, your missing it, nut its probably my bad explanantion. I think its rally hard to convey what is occurring in writing.

I know how the marquee works and thats not the issue.

What I am saying is that even if I had done the marquee wrong, as you described, only a portion of the elements show up in the 3D model, elevation or section.

Something is messing up when the section or elevation is created

Try using the internal engine and see if you get the same result. You might also check the setting of elements to show in 3D to see if something there inadvertently was changed.

I think ted is right...It sounds like you have somehow copied the model on top of itself...this would definitely produce the behavior you are describing.
What do you mean? Do you mean just cut it and paste it so the exact same wall goes in the exact same place?

The problem is that its inconsistent. By that I mean that its not always the same wall that is missing in the section or elevation. I can rebuild the section several time and the rendered view changes each time, sometimes picking up more lines and deleting others and sometimes just adding more line detail (by line detail, I mean the rendered linewaork automatically generated by the related element)

I checked duplicates and the only things that came up was a couple of labels on one duplicate object that was in working areas completely away from the floor plan where the problem is arising.

I'm beginning to think that my file has somehow been corrupted.

Here's is how I finally got my elevations, building sections and wall sections to finally show correctly with all related element line work and notes, labels and dimensions I added in the section/elevation view:

1. I turned off all the layers except for two (Walls (Exterior) & Walls (Interior)

2. Then I opened the section to see if it would display everything properly (which it did).

3. I slowly turned on each layer that pertained to that layer combination one at a time, rebuilding the section/elevation each and every time I turned on another layer (My hope was that my manually doing this I would discover which layer the problem was associated with. The thing is, the error never appeared by turning the layers on one at a time and I ultimately restored my intended views through this long and tedious process. I was able to make the error reappear by skipping the process of turning on each layer one at a time and just turning them all on. When I turned on all the layers and opened the section/elevation, the messed up view appeared again)
