<T>Can anyone tell me how to create a contour from various elevation points? For example, I can create a simple 3-node mesh with z elevations of 98.1, 103.2, 107.5 (feet). Now I want to draw the 99, 100, 101, etc. contours. Can AC8.1 do this and if so, how?

Thank you.</T>

It will not generate contour lines (I guess you mean elevation lines within the contour of the Mesh) automatically, but if you have a contour plan file (a 2D DWG drawing or something similar), then you can draw the contour of the Mesh, then by SPACE-clicking those elevation lines add new ridges to the Mesh. The nyou can select these ridges one-by-oen and can set ther height of all nodes belonging to the same ridge at once.

David,
You seem to be saying that you have created individual points
not connected by ridge lines and you want to know how to
make ridge lines (points connected by contour lines).
There are two methods.
One, with the mesh selected, the mesh tool active, and the the
polygon construction method enabled, draw the contour line
as you would any polyline and when complete AC will show
a dialogue box where you choose whether the points will make a hole
or make a contour. Select contour and hit OK. After the new contour
line appears then select it and assign an elevation value to all points.
Two, draw a polyline or grouped line segments to define the contour
you want then with the mesh selected and the mesh tool active,
use the magic wand to trace the lines and create a mesh ridge.
