<T>Don't you find those mesh ridge lines in elevation really frustrating? Any work-around (and there are a number of them) are just that - work-arounds: and these, by definition, create other problems or increase work time.

How about a separate pen for "User-defined ridges" as well as the automatically created ridges? Simple, easy - and I would think completely doable by Graphisoft.</T>

i don't know if you'd call it a workaround but i tend to show only the user defined ridges anyway (and set to "smooth"). maybe i'll turn the automatic ones on for some occasional editing, but that's about it.

with regard to the wish - it wouldn't hurt i guess. i'd probably define it differently just because it's there more than any other reason.

a better wish may be to kill the mesh and give us a decent bloody terrain modeller to begin, wouldn't it . . ?
I clearly haven't explained myself properly.

In a mesh, there are three different 'ridges': 1. the Outline, 2. User defined ridges (typically your contours), and 3. automatic ridges (the triangles).

You can turn off the automatic ridges by selecting "Show User Defined Ridges" as opposed to "Show All Ridges". There should also be a selection for "Show Outlines Only" - but that's not what this poll is about.

When you have "Show User Defined Ridges" selected, your contours will still show up in elevations & sections with depth as horizontal lines (see screenshot). It's these lines I want to be able to 'hide', whilst still displaying the outline (yes, in both plan and section).

That's what this poll question is asking. I was hoping to avoid a lengthy post as it doesn't encourage people to read it, but I hope this makes it a bit clearer.
