When opening the Archive file in 9.0, do I have to use the PLa Library or will the Archived 8.1 Library with this archive file be compatable with the ArchiCAD Library 9.pla (my guesses it will not be compatable with the AC9 Library Special Edition.pla).

<T>Hello all,

I had a project that was completed in April 2003 using AC 8.0 (it was one of two projects that I unfortunately started in 8.0 and finished before 8.1 was released, it was a nightmare). Anyway, it seems that I had some addendums in Oct. 2003 and saved the file as both an AC8.0 file and an AC7.0 file.

Now in 2005 the client wants to do an addition to the built residence.

Which file should I use to bring into AC9? The AC8.0 or the AC7.0?

Thanks</T>

if you still have archiCAD 8.1 kicking around, open the 8.0 file with that and save as an archive (PLA). open the <S></S>archive<E></E> with 9 . . .

there are a few more threads on the forum somewhere about bringing older files into new versions . . . a search might throw up more ideas or pitfalls to avoid.
You can use the Archicad 8.1 pla library, billed as a subset to AC9 library, from

http://tr.graphisoftus.com/

As the current SE library can be loaded without adverse affect concurrently with the standard AC9 library there shouldn't be any problems.

It never hurts to save a copy of your pla with a slightly different name just in case.
