I haven't had occasion to export 3DS from AC11 yet but I have always found it to be the best format for 3D model exchange. In general the type of element shouldn't matter since you are only exporting 3D geometry. So far I have had no problems. What kind of issues do you expect?

<T>guys,
we need help.
what issues have you found with exporting or saving the 3d window to a 3DS file?
please, we are saving information out to 3DStudio and Max and we need to know what others have come across with respect to Archicad 11 saving out to a 3DS file format.

For example, I've made custom truss objects, how does that affect the out put of the 3DS files?

So far, it's come in properly but....I'd like to gather information so I can speak accurately when someone in our office states..."it can't be done, blah, blah, blah"...

thanks.</T>

The issues I am trying to anticipate are the following:
1. custom objects not coming in properly to 3DS interface.
2. Objects in general, walls, windows, doors, not rendering properly.
3. large polygon counts from the Archicad 3DS export into the 3DS file format.

those are mostly the ones that concern us......but so far, it's come into 3DMax properly.....which is a good thing.
