<T>Have one set of stairs between two floors. The stairs show up on both floors, with the break line, and appropriate dashed lines for treads above or below the break line.

The arrow on the bottom floor points up, but so does the arrow on the second floor. I can't get it to point down, must have tried every button twice.
Anybody help me out here?</T>

there is a "print screen" button above the Insert Button in the same row as the F keys.
Click it and it takes a snapshot of what is on your monitor.
Open up any photo editing program including Microsoft Phot Editor which comes with XP.
Paste the image into a new window. This can be edited and saved as a jpeg for posting (or for your personal photo scrap book!)

Here is a picture of our dialog box. I don't see an UP/DOWN ARROW button. Our version has a WALKWAY button. These work great for the main level, but upstairs, the arrow is pointing in the wrong direction for going down. Why would our stair dialog box be different, and what should I do to get the arrow to point DOWN stairs?

ahh, a picture is worth a thousand..

When you use the stairs from the library there does not seem to be an option as you said.

If instead you create a new stair, you will have that option.

At the top of the stair dialogue box to the right of where it says "Stair Straight RC" there is an arrow button. This allows you to create a new stair and then you can have the arrow setting you want available as an option.

Hope this helps.

Tom... you used a ready made stair object that comes with ArchiCAD. The best you can do to get the UP/DOWN arrows is to set WALKWAY to OFF and draw them in yourself..

Erica on the other hand used stair maker (see picture for how to open StairMaker) Which give you the dialogue Erica shows.
Thanks for your help, Erika. Are you saying, however, that there is no way to get a DOWN arrow when using a stock stairway? I don't find it necessary to create new stairs normally when there are so many options in the stock stair dialogs...except for this problem. Am I thinking backwards?

Hmmm... these posts are just missing eachother. The only way to do it using the stock stair is to turn off the WALKWAY and draw the arrows yourself.
