In ArchiCAD you can choose the railing, when you create the stair. The first attach is the railing option that you can choose.

<T>Is there a way to get different railings for each leg of a stair in archicad. I am using a U shaped stair configuration enclosed by walls on the outside of the stair. I want the railings only along the inside of the stairway but I would like a guardrail for the upper run and only a handrail for the lower run since it is against the wall supporting the upper run. Is this possible?
See the attached jpg - this is the stair i want except that I want the lower run railing to be only a handrail, no post, bars....</T>

Hi Scott,

to tell you the truth, looking at you post title you already been enough clear!
In order to get what you are looking for you can simply use the "Edit reailing section" tool in the ArchiStair tool palette (page 67 in the ArchiStair user manual).
Using it you can freely set any piece of railing along your stair.

In the attached image, an example about the result you can get, I used the red color for the railing near the wall.

Friendly
