Nathan,
Archicad's Profiler does not make an object that changes height
along a path. There are other profilers you can buy that do.
AFAIK, TrussMaker can't make a truss that is curved in plan.
You could try using the object "Curved Ramp" for your railing
(03 concrete/concrete structures). The problem with using this
library part for your purpose is that it only makes circular
arc segments which means you will have to compose the
elliptical railing out of arcs approximating an ellipse or
modify the GDL scripts with MUL commands to make elliptical
segments.
Thank you,

<T>I want to make a railing that goes goes around this stair. I was thinking of making a wall, with trimming top and bottom with a roof. This is a bit of a pain.

Is there a way to get the profiler to follow a curving upward path? Or is this a job for Trussmaker?

Thanks.

PS No need to comment on that front arch creating a head height problem Thats the whole reason for modeling this thing.</T>

If you don't have ArchiForma you may be able to model it in ArchiCAD using the profiler. The process would be to make the elliptical hand rail with the profiler save it as and object, view it in 3D at the angel of your stair (35 deg or what ever it is for your stair) and save it again as a new object. You may need to make several parts like this and combine them to get what you want. I make all of my hand rails with special profiles like this.
I think the hand rail you want would be a fun thing to make so if you would like some help with it send me a file of your stair and I will give it a try.
