<T>Following ArchiCAD ref. guide, I created interior elevs, then used marquee tool to copy and paste them onto my floor plan. (Don't understand why this step is necessary.) How do I now get them into a section/elevation window in the Navigator to create a view set? Thanks.</T>

cut and paste into a dummy section view or independant detail. But I would never do it that way.
Make a separate elvation/section for each wall and keep a live model.
ie dont use the internal elevation tool
oh yes welcome to the boards

Maura,
I'm not sure what you did by following which part of the AC reference manual. It sounds like you placed a zone(s) and then used the interior wizard to create your interior elevations, correct? While your results can be pasted into a section/elevation window, they will be neither live from the model nor in any way linked to the model for easy updating as your project progresses.

Far easier in the long run is to create your interior elevations using the section/elevation tool. You can limit the height range as appropriate and limit the depth to minimized what needs to be generated. Also, you can set the display of the section/elevation display to elevation. This single marker symbol can also be moved around to fit your drawing. You might also find it helpful to work more efficiently by placing all interior elevation markers on a their own layer.

You might also do a search here in ACtalk as this topic has been discussed before.
