Open another ArchiCAD window by clicking the ArchiCAD.exe file again. Use the marquee tool to surround the plan and Select All. Copy this with Ctrl + C and then paste into your other open file with Ctrl + P.

Alternatively place the surveyors plan in your project as a hotlinked module by going to File/Modules and XRefs/Place Module/Choose Hotlink.

Alternative 2 go to File/Merge and select the survey to bring into your project.

Of the above I prefer the hotlinked module because the survey stays intact and you cant accidentally change its details.

<T>Hi All,

Seeking your help. I'm trying to paste a floor plan (done in Archicad) into a site plan that was imported as a DWG from Autocad. They're documents for the same project, but were created separately and exist as separate files.

In my version of Archicad, I can't seem to open more than one project at a time (i.e. I try to open a new file, and it prompts me to save and close my current one). Is there a workaround solution?

Thanks,
Try importing your floor plan as a hotlinked module. This way it will retain all of the model. You will need to hotlink each story separately. Go to Modules/x-refs and choose place module. You will then select a master layer to place the module (if this layer is turned off, the entire module is off.) and can search to place the file that you wish.
Oops,

Place (paste) the drawing with Ctrl + V.

Save the Autocad drawing as an ArchiCAD file before pasting, merging, or placing a hotlinked module.

Assuming you're on a Mac which doesn't allow multiple PLNs to be open at the same time - unless you make a copy of the Archicad application and make a shortcut to your desktop, call it archicad 2 and use this to open other pln files. You can do this with as many copies as you want as long as you have enough RAM

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I'm going to try out the hotlink now. If I have any difficulties will let you know.
