My dream has always been a system that says
"For every X feet away, subtract Y from the current pen", with Y being either a pen value (adjusting pen 1 to the left), or a weight (remove .02 mm) or a color (make 5% lighter)

<T>If you mean stepping the horizontal range and Distant Area depth the same way you can step the section line itself, I think you're out of luck. Would be great if you could.</T>

Oh, multiple Distant Area Depths, that has been suggested before, and maybe even wished for. I vote essential.

And until your wish come true you can use two (or more) sections with the second starting at the depth-end of the first one and then overlap them in a layout. Be careful to set section lines of the second one to a thin pen, and also place it in a different (hidden) layer.
well my dream would be a printer which could print so acurrately and a pair of eyes that could tell the difference...
