I have a similar problem - using a student version AC11 on OSX Tiger 10.4.10 on MacBook Pro 2.2:
- sometimes (8 of 10 times) AC hangs when loading Library (standard, no extras)
- it always hangs when rendering (all engines)
"hangs" meaning the color ball keeps spining and I have to force-quit AC from apple menu.

I have installed the latest 1040 hotfix. is there perhaps a caches problem or sth.? I'm new to OSX, used to be on windows and AC10 - which worked.
please help.

Its a known bug I'm afraid, although I thought the lastest update fixed it?

See <S></S><LINK_TEXT text="http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... hp?t=17070">http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=17070</LINK_TEXT><E></E>

tbh, I'm not using AC11 much yet so I don't know if things have improved or not in that respect. I do know the 2d speed issue have been sorted now though!

The problem with debugging this error is that it can not be repeated on-demand, and we could never repeat this in an ArchiCAD debugger environment, which is necessary for the developer to be able to fix it. Now a bunch of QC guys are assigned to finding the exact steps to reproduce this - but if any of you have the "recipe", please share. We can repeat it time to time, but we don't yet see the pattern. But let me assure you - this bug is high priority on our list.

We finally have some luck with repeating this error. A 100% sure way to repeat it is to edit an element's parameters (e.g. height of a column) when in 3D - you change the parameter in the element's setting dialog, then close the dialog with hitting ENTER (Not by hitting the OK button). After this, the object previews are gone. It seems that if you close the dialog with the OK button, then the problem won't happen. This seems to be the way to avoid the problem.

After reading this reply, I find myself in awe of the debugging process. While a bunch of users are having meltdowns over an infuriating and time-consuming application behavior, some guy in a basement in Hungary is doing a time and motion study on the result of different keystrokes.

Is this typical of the de-bugging experience?

No, this is not typical. Usually It's a programmer with C#. But there are situations when they can't find the problem from the code side, and they need reproduction steps. That's when the basement guys step in. While at that, they have actually a pleasant second floor room...

What a great concept! GS could actually capitalize on it. If you wait one year (or one version) they could charge more for that gamma proofed release. That could change the whole strategy with subscriptions. While maybe not multi threaded or multi proceedered, it's multi-layered.

I Might be the first to sign up for this Gamma proofed Subscription. Might even at double the price. NO Quoting that please. But still seem worth it.

Well I for one will add my heartfelt word of gratitude to Gergely Kmethy and the GS technicians. Thank You People. You make a very sweet product and, I'm going to shout it out: I LOVE MY AC.

Now that I have headquarter's attention, please hear another request:
Can you fix that annoying disappearance of an option that was available in AC10 but disappeared in AC11??
I'm referring to Project Preferences/Calculation Units/length units which don't have a "Feet and fractional inches" option.
Anyone (at least in the US?) who includes rough openings in their window schedules NEEDS this option, as no framer uses decimal inches to frame an opening.

We are still crashing often (hourly) with AC11 on Vista.
The polyroof tool is not working correctly in 11. Is this known?
