Most software companies are like that. They tend to keep new features under wraps until close to the release date, partially to keep the competition in the dark and partially so they do not over-promise and have a feature that completely missed the release date.

<R>Hello all international users,

We would like to know more about the following points about the new release AC 11 :

- Whether OLE links in drawings will be resinstated ( for platforms PC of course )

- Pen combinations saved when creating a drawing view and not afterwards.

- An updated Stairmaker (which hasn't evolved since v.6 with its arrows and horrible 2D diagrams, the Blondel formula is universal and very few plans don't require stairs)

- A real wysiwyg page layout tool for calculation graphic lists (the 'open format layout assistant' button isn't worthy of the software!)

-possibilities to work with under key when we edit alphanumerics database

- Drop shadows under OpenGL in the 3D window (most graphic cards support volume shadows). It's incredible that we can't use vectorials sun shadows in this mode !
And it's no more better for vectorial 3D hatching (more difficult to develop but not impossible)

- Configuration of the right mouse button ! ( hidde layer in 3D window welcome !)

- A clear position concerning rendering / Either a complete Lightworks or nothing, but ....no more partial applications.

- And the icing on the cake: Align view, Piranesi import, as well as all the standard plug-ins in the French version. ( but on this specific point, many users thinks the problem come from the unpopular reputation of our exclusive national importer )

Will our voices, as clients and users of the software, be heard? Will the version 11 address at least some of the points listed above?

Thank GS you for your answers

Best regards

Masse
Hello Dwight

Why ? We are old users and clients and we really want to know if tomorrow our favorite soft give us really more productivity and not new gadgets.
Actually we think AC 10 is very good but ...not finished , so we wait ... the 11 ....
With our experiences, we will be reassured if that goes in the good way.
Is it a crime ?

Why GS maintain an opacity in this kind of communication for their future release ?
Maybe are we naive ?

I sympathise with your anxienty and your curiosity, but the new release will arrive once it is final and not before.

In the past, some features tested in Beta versions haven't made it to the final release so those who gossiped looked bad, not to mention that they violated their secrecy agreement.

Please accept that you'll just have to wait.

In future, if you want to know the secrets soonest, ask your reseller to sign you up for the beta test.

Best wishes.

No. That's why we have buy one Int version
Some "bad people" say here that this function is not implanted in our french version because it made shadow to another product ( begin with "Art" and finish with "tis" ) . Of course this soft is edited by the exclusive importer of AC. In this history we dont really know where is the true !

The Align More-Or-Less View Tool doesn't work that well, anyways.
(Not due to a poor programming effort, but rather to the lack of accuracy in photos and measurement gathering)

To be more precise, the official position of Abvent on the subject is as follows:
"We judged that this function does not have any potential for the French users, also we removed it. "

It is the same case for Piranesi export plug

The points mentioned above on Lightworks interest them too! ) )

We had the informations which we wanted. We don't want to know the AC11's innovations and we respect the secret to not reveal them, but just the corrections or improvements / AC 10. That's not really the same thing for us ! If what we understood is true, regrettably for us, all our questions have negative answers. We are disappointed, because we really like working with AC (not as much as with Catia V5 !).
As we say : " forewarned is forearmed! "
Well, and indeed we have no other solutions that to wait for 12's issue now unless a miracle appears during the official 11's issue.... but there is not a lot of hope as it was confirmed to us ... We shall be patient until 2008 at least...

Hello Masse
I understands your fears. But you can already use and work with AC10, personally I am satisfied. You shouldn't take too much delay to work with it because soon you 'll risk to be completely out !!
But I agree with you, a new Stairmaker and drop shadows in OpenGl miss cruelly. Otherwise I have not the same sources of information about the next "baby". Ac 11 will integrate the possibility of saving the pen sets during the creation of the view ! On 9 points which you describe, one is positive ! Don't loose courage!
