I have heard from reliable sources that Archicad 9 will be out in September. Can't wait to see the new features. Hopefully new 3d navigation.

It is true from what I can tell. You will know in little more than a week. I don't know any details and would not say if I did. I just think it is great that it is happening sooner than expected and my hardware/ software decisions can be made now rather than December.

I am hoping for some big modernizations!

I think when version 8 came out, it was announced 3 or 4 months before the actual shipping date.

My bet is that we see version 9 announce at the archicad university in early september with an actual release date in late November / early December, again this is just a calculated guess on my part.

Bring it on, Graphisoft.

Was the full feature set announced in detail or did you have to wait until it actually came out. In other words will it be just a general press release?

We have a VERY strong team coming from Graphisoft, 7 strong. They will make a presentation on the Friday (10th). I have no idea what they will be announcing, but we appreciate the seriousness with which they are treating our event. (PS, its not too late to book if you can organise the flight!)

We have allocated them plenty of time (2 hours) for a plenary, plus 4 90-min periods for seminar style meetings with users.

And guess what!

ArchiCAD University is the first main PUBLIC SHOWING.

We have a team of SEVEN from Graphisoft, including Mark Sawyer coming to announce it and demonstrate it to a PACKED HOUSE . There are 2 Dominics at GS in Budapest and we shall have one-point-five of them....[/size] work that one out.....

We have a packed house of almost 140 at the conference, and expect a few late bookings as a result of the AC9 announcement.

First impressions from demos.
these are the new features as seen in the demo videos and next to them my rating of usefullness

1) Docable palletes (interface feature) 3
2) User Profiles (interface feature) 3
3) Slightly new menu system (interface feature) 1
4) Magnet tool for selection (work feature) 5
5) Create new stories on the fly (work feature) 1
6) Every layer pop-up shows all attributes (work feature) 2
7) Additions in 2d pet pallet such as simultaneous filleting of
all edges of a polygon (work feature) 3
Hatches in slabs zones... (work feature) 5
9) Text orientation in xrefs (work feature) 5
10) Dimensions and user profiles (work feature) 5
11) Grid layout and fixed width autotext in Plotmaker (work feature) 5
12) Full integration of pdf in plotmaker. No printer driver is needed and the layout of each page is read automatically of the layout page (output feature) 5
13) Internal Text Editor (at last) (work feature) 6!
14) Lightworks Rendering engine (work feature) 5.
15) Faster

If this is the full set of new features then i should say that there are no element enchancments except from text.
No wall wishes , no free shape column , no...
The biggest part of the wish list was about elements but i see no improvements there.
So these first demos leave me with mixed felling.
If the waiting for V9 was shorter and the wish list was much smaller maybe a 8.5 release number would seem more appropriate.
So would we have to wait for 2 more years to see actual tool improvements.
