Tp be sure that the section really rebuilds completely from the model, move it slightly in the floor plan (it's a bug an ac10).

Is this a confirmed bug? The S/E is not set to Manual-rebuild is it?

There's also a new feature in ArchiCAD 10 where you can modify the model in S/E and have it update instantly. It's called 'Update Autorebuild Model Section/Elevation views continuously' and is in the project preferences. I think it's turned on by default, but it's a really neat little feature! I thought it was worth a mention.

Cheers,
Cover fill problems????

<T>It's about beer thirty on Friday.....maybe I'm missing something.

I have a slab, which has a brick edge all the way around. One face of the slab should show on the elevation as brick (in 2D). I select the slab, go to settings, then to cover fill settings. Then I uncheck the box that says"use fill of surface material" which is brick. Then I go to the box above it in which I can select an alternate fill, which I select as block. Everything looks OK. Am using a model view setting which indicates cover fills are displayed by setting.

I go back to the S/E, rebuild, which it does. However, it still displays the brick, not the block.

Should I open a beer instead?</T>

Should I open a beer instead?

If it's beer thirty, you're already half an hour late. Beer should always be cracked at beer o'clock. I always wondered why I got strange looks when I was on time with my beer drinking when I was in the US!

I am pretty sure that cover fills only apply in the floor plan window. You may need to make your own material or use Solid Ops to achieve what you want?

Cheers!
Here is a quote from the manual.

Note: Slab cover fills appear on the Floor Plan only if you have chosen Outline Only in the Floor Plan Display Options, since that shows the slab’s top view.

It is a little cryptic for what its worth.

Tp be sure that the section really rebuilds completely from the model, move it slightly in the floor plan (it's a bug an ac10). If position is THAT important, place a hotspot on it first, and afterwards move it back to the hotspot.

The cover fill applies to the plan view only. The edge fills are defined by the material setting and the fill associated with that material.

As Link suggests; you may need to make a new material or modify an existing one to do what you want; and if you need different fills on various edges of the same slab you will need to either split the slab or use SEOs.

Note that the cover fill can also be set to match the slab's top surface material.
