Hello David

It is a good question…

As Olivier I stay —for the moment— on the AC8.1 version.
Thus no experiments of translation of any AC 8.1 object to AC9…
I Hope that you can use them directly… or after an internal translation…

<T>I am laying out a site plan and my client needs to hold the developable area to 1/2 acre but has infinite flexibility with the shape of the perimeter. Is there a way with zone tool - or any other - to lock the area and drag the shape to suit? Might be obvious or a great workaround but just seem to be missing it.</T>

Hello,

I don't think that the zone can solve your problem. I think that it is possible to program it to show the difference between the "chosen" area and the mesure area, not to lock it.

I know a rectangular object of Olivier Dentan —surface_contrainte_od_ downloadable here in English http://perso.wanadoo.fr/archilib.od/ac8eng.html — which do that properly in a dynamic way. You "stretch" the A value in the plan and the B value change to "keep" the same "area" for the object
It is more difficult to imagine a non rectangular object which do the same thing. if you change one side of your object which one will change to keep the area equal?

Hello, Frédéric,
A few years ago before switching to ArchiCAD 7 I used Revit before it was absorbed into auto***. Very interesting parametric abilities however I seem to have gotten along just fine without it until now. I will browse through Oliver's objects and experiment a bit. Any word on how his objects translate into ArchiCAD 9?
