The roof tool is nice but i am never use roofs so when i want to cut a wall is hard for me to fit the roof on the precise position (length, angle)
Something like a cutplane</R>

I assume you mean using the "Trim to Roof" tool?

The more flexible method is using Solid Element Operations, which allow you to cut almost anything with another tool.

Yes i already using the solid element operations but what about if you want to cut a wall in a sloped level, from Right-bottom corner to Left-Top corner and create a triangular wall?I can't find any element to do that except the roof
The roof is the easiest way to make a sloping cut. I would still use the SEOs though, not trim to roof. It may be easiest for you to adjust the roof in 3D.

in that case, you are correct. The roof is the only sloping element, unless you can find an object that slopes.... maybe the ramp or joist object?

View the wall in 3D. Activate roof tool, single plane. Click on the two bottom ends of the wall, and one top. That will make a transparent triangle - that is your roof plane. Now click on four points to define the roof plane. Done.

The roof plane should be on "Cutter" or similar layer that should be hidden in all but the working layoer combos.
Miker,
Tom's idea is a good one, especially if you are uncomfortable with
the roof tool.
It occurs to me that instead of searching for an object that
can be given a "pitch" one could use TrussMaker to create an
object that has as many different pitches as needed and
then use it to "subtract with upward extrusion" from the wall as target.
What's the difficulty that you are having with the roof tool? Just that you find it difficult? Or is it causing some other problem?

It would be ideal if i have an object like roof but with 0 thickness.
All the element you advise have a thickness so i have to edit a lot in the 3d till i find the right position.Usually i want the bottom surface of the element to act like a cutplane but usually you can edit the slope from the top surface of the object.
Maybe like the way we make holes on a slab,You just draw the outline of the hole and that all
Hope you understand
Thanx

A roof can have zero thickness and can be used to trim a wall to roof
but if it has zero thickness it will not work as an operator in a SEO.
Good tip, Djordje. I was not even aware you could define a roof pitch in this way. I thought you had to calculate the angle and put it in the settings manually. Very good to know, thanks.

Miker - if you use this Djordje's method it doesn't matter how thick you make the roof, (especially if you "subtract with upwards extrusion") just make sure the layer it is on is turned off after you have completed your SEO.
