topic Train Tunnel! in Modeling

<T>Hi ArchiTalk,

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to do the following:

I need to draw, in archicad, a train tunnel 15' dia on a slope of
1:80.
I'm not really sure how to tackle this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

This depends on just what you need to "draw".

If you just need a simple model of the tunnel, you can use a cylindrical object (or whatever you can find/make that has the approximate shape of the tunnel) and subtract it from the terrain model. Abutments, etc. should be possible to model with walls, etc.

For a little more complexity you can use the profiler to make the shape of the tunnel. This will allow a precise profile of the tunnel wall and allows it also to curve along its axis.

If you are looking to produce fully accurate engineering drawings, these would have to be done (or at least finished) in 2D as it would be very difficult to model the tunnel walls, etc. in that degree of detail.

Richard,

I created an object for this purpose, which can simultaneously handle inclines, curves, junctions, and penetrations, and illustrates the 'walls' in 2D . I haven't released it commercially, but contact me by PM if you're interested.
