Hello,

I am wondering if it would be worth my while to purchase a used copy of Archicad 6.0 and then upgrade to version 8. How much would that cost, and would there be any support if I bought it used? I am a young architect who would like to have a program for my own use at home. (My office uses AutoCad 2004, but Id like a copy of archicad for my own use) Thanks in advance for any info on this. I havent even asked if my friend wants to sell his copy yet, I figured i'd wait to see if it was worth doing before I asked him

Depending on how cheap you could get the copy of 6.0... There is a license transfer fee and upgrade costs... You could save some money.

Your best bet to find out how much it would cost to upgrade a transferred license of AC would be to call your local ArchiCAD reseller:

You will be practically upgrading to 8.1, as the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 is free. So it is definitely a good deal.

As David said, find a cheap 6.o and contact your local reseller.

FYI -
whether you find an old 6.0 license from a local peer or via eBay (or similar) place, please check (before purchasing) with our US office at 800-344-3468 (GS US main office) to see if the key/license is legit or not.
