There is always the old-fashioned way: Zip them and stash them somewhere in a "backups" folder.
There is also old-fashioned way #2: Burn them to a CD or DVD.

<T>Hello All,

Anyone have a good way to archive a Teamwork Project other than saving
it as a PLN then a PLA (we have tried this and while it worked it was
less than successful in that it turn all of our fonts from Ariel
Narrow to Ariel Unicode, which we are still cleaning up to this day)?
So, if anyone has any suggestions I would be glad to hear it.</T>

I cannot say I've ever heard of a PLA changing fonts. Is there any possibility this was system-related, not Archicad-related?

I've seen literally hundreds of these created, many of them referenced later, with no problems.

My guess is it is system related not ArchiCAD related, I can't verify it one way or the other as this was somethign the project team did and not myself. I am basically just looking to see if there is another way before I tell them to use the PLA again, which they are now hesitant to do because of the affore mentioned reasons.

Rob:

Although I have not experienced any problems with archive (pla) files, another approach would be:

1. Do as you did before (save the file as pln then pla)
2. Open the pla file and when you get the "Active Library Usage" dialog box, select the "Extract elements to a folder" option. This will contain the library parts and textures that were saved as part of the archive.
3. Save this library and the original Teamwork file (or pln file if it keeps the fonts correctly) as your archive.

I do not have much experience with TeamWork, but this should work in terms of finding and extracting the project's library parts & textures for an archive.

Yea, ZIP file is what I was thinking as well, so with a teamwork file then I should tell them to make sure that they ZIP the following files:

PLP
MOD's
PLN's
ADM
and the Library

Did I miss anything?

Call me lazy, I tend to ZIP the whole project drawings folder. Since some projects have multiple PLNs and PLPs, MODs, and all kinds of stuff, it makes life simpler.

We don't even ZIP it, we just burn the whole Project folder, plus all used Libraries to DVD. Did not have a Project so far that did not fit on one DVD.
