Just wonder, as the cut plane doesn't affect the display of stairs, whether there's option making stairs to display themselves according to the floor plan cut plan settings. I read that they can be programmed this way but have no clue how. But this is GDL issue rather, I guess.
Floor Plan Cut Plane

<R>Hi all
My question is:
How can I have a different height of the Cut Plane for each story?
Every change of the height applies to all the stories of the project.
In reference manual it's written:
<S></S>When you save a view, the Floor Plan Cut Plan settings are saved
along with the view. You can still modify the Floor Plan Cut plane for
that view later using its View Settings dialog box; this way, you can
have a different Floor Plan Cut Plane for each saved view, if required.<E></E>
I'm not a native english, maybe that's why I'm confused.
What should I understand under "saving a view"?
Any help here?

Roman wrote:
How can I have a different height of the Cut Plane for each story?

roman

the floor plan cut plane is saved with a <S></S>view<E></E>. think of it like layer combinations: you can choose as many different layer combinations as you like on each floor, and the one that is currently active when you change storeys will be the one initially shown on the new storey.

so if you want a different cut plane height on each storey, create a view for each of your floor plans after changing the floor plan cut plane to the height you need it to be - right click on the storey in the navigator's project map and choose 'Save Current View...'

but remember: in order to have this cut plane height take effect as you navigate between storeys <S></S>you have to use the saved views in the view map<E></E> rather than the storeys in the project map.

remember also that you can modify a view's cut plane at any time using the 'View Settings...' dialogue (see the screenshot)
Just wonder, as the cut plane doesn't affect the display of stairs, whether there's option making stairs to display themselves according to the floor plan cut plan settings. I read that they can be programmed this way but have no clue how. But this is GDL issue rather, I guess.
The cut plane does not affect any object-based tools except doors & windows, and even them only slightly

You will also have to remember to switch between Stories by double-clicking the appropriate saved View in the Navigator - this way the stored Floor Plan Cut Plane setting gets applied, too. Whereas, if you just go from one Story to another, the Floor Plan Cut Plane setting stays the same.
Something to be aware of, I think.

OK.... The cut plane does not affect any GRAPHISOFT-PROVIDED object-based tools except doors & windows, and even them only slightly <E>😉</E>
