I'd like to see a setting for incremental angles, so you can set every 15 degrees, say, and it locks on 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 etc. You can always glance at your co-ords box to see you got the right one.

<T>Under Preferences in Mouse Constraints & Methods/Custom I always et the Custom Constraint to 0 angle and uncheck the box. Somehow the box magically gets checked and the angle set to some arbitrary angle. I'm sure that somewhere this is seen as a feature. For me it is a problem.

Why does this happen?

How can I stop it from happening?

Thank you,
because you use the parallel/perpendicular constraints 'on-the-fly' i guess . . . this has the same affect as setting the custom constraint in the preferences.

it's most definitely a feature! you wouldn't want to measure an angle, then go into the preferences, set that angle up in the custom constraint box, click OK and <S></S>only then<E></E> be able to draw your element do you???

how come it bothers you that much?
How can I control/invoke this "feature"? How can I turn it off so that it does not pick up angles on the fly?

I use the Shift key to control the constraints but I do not want to pick up an arbitrary constraint "on the fly". How can I turn of the "feature" that picks up an angle for constraint "on the fly"?
Unfortunately this "feature" can't be turned off permanently.
But you can learn to live with it.

The new constrained angle only appears in each of the four quadrants in one direction only.

Say you have used the parallel or perpendicular tool (accidentally or on purpose) and it has now activated the mouse constraint at 5°.
If you start to draw a line (wall or whatever) and place the second point at a relative angle to the first point of anywhere around 5° and press shift it will contsrain at 5°.
But if you move the mouse so your relative angle is at -5° then the mouse will constrain at 0°.
Same will happen at 90° (i.e around 95° will constrain at 95° but around 85° will constrain at 90°).
Ditto for 180° and 270°.

So it just depends where you position your mouse and keep an eye on the angle input in the co-ordinate box.

Still it is annoying and would be nice if it could be turned of permanently or have the parallel/perpendicular/bisector tool use the new angle as a one off feature and then turn it off again unless you deliberately set it to on in the options.
