Stairmaker for all "normal" plain vanilla, straight, U or L shaped stairs.

Special or highly decorative stairs I build from scratch using slabs, beams, simple "slabbie" homemade objects, etc.. It takes awhile but if they are "special" stairs, it is worth it.

<R>I do not want to create another post on why StairMaker is not working the way it should.
Just want to know how everyone else creates stairs (especially in US) so I may come out of indecision and not knowing what to do.
Thanks,
I got so fed up with the various stairs out there that I wrote my own. I really don't believe there's a stair out there that really does what it should. I don't even think MINE does every thing it should, but at least it covers about 90% of our work.

For residential work, I often find myself using the D3 SmartParts Trim Library and assembling a stair from the stair parts there.

StairMaker as a 3D "place holder" + a simple wall-mounted handrail object I made + a whole lot of 2D elements in plan and section.

If I had an "Architectural Stair" that needed to be modeled for a rendering, I'd build it out of parts (slabs, etc.).

I've tried all the AC Stair objects, StairMaker, StairBuilder, and ArchiStair -- they <S></S>all<E></E> require a lot of 2D patchwork to get to a workable stair.

Wow a lot of thinking out of the AC Box. I better stop being frustrated and model for 3D and back to 2D for Plan. Thank you for all the comments, Appreciate more input.
