ok, so i feel really silly now.
the problem lay in the model view options. our CAD manager set our office template and had the fills to use the window background colour as opposed to their set background colour.
and ofcourse he's on holiday currently!
Linear gradient fills - problem! (solved now)

<R>I have a nice gradient fill on my drawing(s), colours blue to white. When i view the drawing layout it looks fine but when i save it as pdf (or 'print' the drawing to pdf makes no difference) the white portion of the gradient turns to black. WHY?

If i draw a gradient fill directly onto the layout it is fine when pdfed, it 's only when the fill is part of the drawing placed onto the layout. see attached img(screen grab of the pdf file), the two fills at the bottom are drawn directly on the layout whereas the fill above is part of the drawing.

please help, i need to send these drawings out today!
taa muchly! </R>

this question is related to this thread <LINK_TEXT text="http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... hp?t=15445">http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=15445</LINK_TEXT>

ok, i've discovered something about the linear gradient fill in my particular file that i cannot explain how or why but hopefully someone know something about it.

the gradient fills have two pens one for the colour and one for the background. when i change the pen for the background, in the drawing, the fill does not change. what's happening??? how can i resolve it?
