topic selecting a portion of a fill pattern in Modeling

<T>Hi, I am using AC12 on a Mac (educational license). I have a question related to selecting a portion of a fill pattern I have created which I would like to define as a complex profile for a wall segment. I have trouble understanding how to go about this.

In the attache picture I am showing a pattern I have created. As an example I have selected a rectangle (in red) of a portion of the pattern, which I would like to select/use as a complex profile.

With SEO I should be able to do this, however these are NOT SEO's. How can I select / substract just a portion of a fill, without having to manual create each section/size myself? Hope someone has a clever suggestion for me. It would save a bunch of work..

Thanks!
How is this pattern generated?

If it is made from a fill, then you'll split the fill four times and delete the extraneous parts to crop it to your red rectangle.

Then copy the fill into a new complex profile window.

Hi, yes, the pattern is a fill. I'll try the split command this morning.

Thanks for the suggestion!
