I don't know specifically if you can use a keyboard command for zooming, but the place to look is in 'Options' 'Work Environment' then Keyboard shortcuts.

Have you tried experimenting with the middle button wheel on the mouse perhaps?

As well as scrolling in and out by rolling the wheel backwards and forwards, holding it down and dragging activates the pan function, and double-clicking zooms to extents. You may find them easier than using the keyboard.

Hope that helps!

john - if you have your mouse set up as shown in the attached screenshot you should be able to pan as peter suggests by holding down the scroll wheel (middle button) and dragging.

note, though, that double-clicking the middle button <S></S>does not<E></E> zoom extents ('Fit In Window') on a mac: for some obscure reason best known to graphisoft that is a PC only function.

cheers
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! i just couldn't figure out how to do this. I've been limping along missing one of my most used features from other CAD programs. I should have asked a long time ago! One less thing to be p'd off about...

Thanks Peter. I have the zooming and panning down now with the mouse. I need to spend some serious time looking at the Work Environment/Keyboard Shortcuts but have avoided it to date. I work with both ArchiCAD and VectorWorks and inevitably keeping hitting the wrong keys in both programs! I'm just not sure which one to change at this point. Having these core commands on the mouse helps me to avoid having to make that decision...
