Guide lines missing

Hi

I'm using Archicad 17, and i'm having a problem with my guide lines. The Instant Guide Lines During Input just disappeared, i'm tired of reading forums and posts but I just can't find the solution. I start drawing a line, and to make it parallel to X, I have to press Shift, the instant guide line don't appear. I think I checked every options but them refuse to appear. I'm a student, in the last year of Architecture and I need this madly.

Sorry to ask the obvious, but do you have them enabled? Check under View>Guide Lines.

Or push the Guide Lines On/Off button in on your control box.

If that's not it, we may need more information.

First of all, thanks for the help. Yes I checked and double checked that, but they continue missing. I don't know what to do more.

Just to be sure again about the obvious. Are guides on (see image)?

If so do a restart of your computer that might clear things up. For example today AC17 decided to stop recognizing the "space bar" as a shortcut for the Magic Wand and for the Magnet. Nothing I did would fixed it until I gave up and did a restart.

Another obvious item would be if you are running the latest version of AC.

Another long shot if none of the above work is to check your Video Card drivers.

Yes and yes. I've talked to a friend today and he said he got the same problem. I'm using student version, maybe it's bug, I don't know.

I've just reinstalled archicad 17 and updated my graphic card drivers, and the guide lines are still missing. And I forgot to mention that I also have another problem, when I draw a wall or a slab, I can't change the surface/material in the model menu, the 3 options buttons are grey/disabled.

Surfaces (Materials) are handled differently in AC17. From the Help files (User Interface Reference > Tool Settings Dialog Boxes > Slab Tool Settings):
Slab Model Panel
This panel affects the 3D display of the slab.
Override Surfaces: Click the toggle button of any or all three pop-ups if you wish to override the surface assigned to this element (in its Building Material). You can override the surfaces of the Slab faces, and/or all Slab edges.

Thank you David Maudlin, I can now change the materials. And to resolve the guides problem anyone got a idea?

The guideline issue looks like is particular to your version since others have not reported problems on it.

Another longshot is to do a "New and Reset" (File-> Press Alt while you select New) to AC to see if the guidelines show up. If they do then it is a problem with a setting in the file.

Obvious question is your AC an international version using the latest hotfix or is it a Portuguese version? If the second it might be a bug particular to that release.

I did a "new and reset", but the problem continues, yes I'm using the portuguese version, I'll try english.

I've tried the english version and it's working. I only have to wait for a new update that fix it. How can I report this kind of bug?

The typical way is to report it back to the reseller who first sold you ArchiCAD. They will then report it to GSHQ.

Just kidding, but I don't know if Graphisoft offer direct support or not.

Usually when they update the Pro version they also update the EDU. I think this is an old bug that was fixed in a previous hotfix (will need to read the notes) and which has not been incorporated in the portuguese version yet.

I've installed the lastest hotfix #4, and they are still missing. I'll have to wait for a new hotfix for my version. I've downgraded to Archi 16 to continue work.
