material change only in one room

hi,
example.i have a house plan with 3 rooms .i see it in the 3d window and i wwould like to make a presentation.
the client wants to change collor the inside of one room only.
is it posible to do it?
1)i am thinking to brake walls and apply material to both sides.
2)what about the columns ? how a column have different materials inside and outside the house? (custom profile??)
3)what happens with the slabs?( if i want to have diferent flooring i need to break the slab in smaller pieces?
4)beams? if a beam goes throu two rooms and the rooms have different collors?should i break the beam too? and if a beam is visible in two rooms with diferent collors?

i have seen renderings on you tube of archicad buildings. i am sure that there is an easiest way to aply materials than breaking the parts to smaller ones and make hundrends custom profiles.

can someone please advise?

AFAIK breaking up the parts as you have described is the only way to do what you want.

On the floors you may find it easier to place thin finish floor slabs in each room with the magic wand tool. This can be a bit fussy if the flooring is continuous through doorways but if there are thresholds it's quite easy.

Ok.i.will.start with breaking the parts.then i should define the appropriate composites.

Is there an easyer way to inject material upon a face of a composite structure other than open the structure profile in the profiler ,repair and save?
One room only have many objects that will need repair.... beams,columns maybe,profile walls,....walls acessories,

Is it realy so time consuming procedure?
Am i missing something?

Is there a 3rd party software mayby for that cases?artlantis or what?

In many subjects in relation to archicad,artlantis is mensioned.
I do not have any knoledge in 3d renderings...is artlantis used in similar cases or it is only for exterior?

With Artlantis (yet another learning curve and expense if you do not need renderings often or in a billable way) - you can over-ride any surface. The wall would not need to be broken...unless you wanted a material change within a wall that is visually continuous. You can continue to update the model in ArchiCAD and when you use the Reference File in Artlantis (your last material assignment including over-rides), things will still look the same.

Artlantis can NOT send the model back to ArchiCAD. It is a one-way workflow from ArchiCAD to Artlantis to images/movies.

But, changing colors/etc with Artlantis is dynamic, so can be done with the client. Unlike ArchiCAD, as you drag sliders in Artlantis to change the color of a wall, it changes immediately in response to your action. Or you can drag-and-drop a new texture (e.g., stucco, brick, wood) onto a surface and it immediately appears... you can then dynamically / visually adjust its size with a slider, immediately seeing the change.

Essential (I think) for anyone doing much visualization with ArchiCAD. A distraction for anyone doing little visualization and primarily producing documents.

Hi Karl,
I will try to take a look to artlantis.
Still it is a pity that archicad misses a tool like one you mension for artlantis..i work on archicad many years and i found that it is the best software out there.the guys at graphisoft done amazing job in every detail i ever need. But i wonder why they mised a simple tool like that.they already have done all the work with materials ,lights,shadows......

After breaking walls, slabs, etc. you can use the Revision Tools Palette to assign temporary colors to selected elements. This way, with several revision styles, you can highlight different rooms and easily revert to "normal" colos.
